Orange & Hot Pink Mexican Birthday Party!

Take a look at this festive, fun & colorful 50th Birthday Celebration!!!
We worked closely with the client’s U.S. wedding planner, Jayne at Just Jayne Events, and the resort planner at Rancho Pescadero, Katie Thompson, to bring the birthday girl’s vision to fruition!

Our client was so thrilled with our paper flower wall, hand-cut and designed by our Donna (on the left) with help from Perla (on the right). This was a photo op location at the entrance to the resort and then provided a back drop for the 3-tier birthday cake. Adding succulents in pots also added a fun element of greenery to the rustic wooden farm tables. Our flags, and paper flower pom-poms, glowed as the pink & orange lighting shone in the Rancho Pescadero Palm Grove.

Real Wedding: Ellie & Tyler – Cabo Del Sol Golf Clubhouse

Our beautiful bride, Ellie, knew exactly what she wanted her bouquet to look like…natural, leafy, green & white only, and very fresh and romantic! We know we fulfilled her every wish & presented her with her perfect bridal bouquet!

One of our favorite parts of a Cabo wedding is when, working with a wedding planner, we get to present the personal flowers to the bride and groom.
Getting ready to proceed down to the ceremony….the florals all look perfect!

The palm arch and pineapple & Bird of Paradise leaf aisle decor look adorable…and we used the pineapples as cocktail table decor after the ceremony! Papel picado table signs…a great way to bring a little bit of Mexico into your Cabo destination wedding decor!

Real Wedding: Keely & Jeff

What a pleasure it was to work with Keely & Jeff, and their wedding planner, Katie Thompson, of Dazzle ‘Em Event Design, on their wedding florals!

FullSizeRender We first met the cute couple when they came in January of this year for a site tour and floral meeting . At this meeting, we had a great time playing with the flowers, with Keely (working together with our floral designers) coming up with the perfect way to arrange a lot of precious small vases on a rectangular wooden farm table.

The end result of that meeting? The amazing floral decor you’ll see below.

Ceremony location: Cabo del Sol Golf Clubhouse Beach. We created a simple arch, framing the crashing waves at this amazing beach venue.

From the bridal bouquet, to boutonnieres, to the flower girl head wreaths, this couple’s florals were created with love & creativity!

These Trends are the Secret Ingredient to Wedding Fabulousness!

With the first month of 2016 coming to a close (can you believe how quickly January has flown by!), we wanted to highlight a few more wedding trends that we think are adorable and truly fabulous and should be brought here to Cabo immediately!

Especially with a destination wedding like this one in Cabo, it can be difficult to include all of our besties, especially our furry ones! So what better way to include them, then to give their photos a place of honor at the reception.
Instead of linen table runner, try a floral table runner on a simple white linen. Lined with candles, this adds the drama of hundreds of flowers, still leaving room for your guests to be able to chat across and down the long table.

3. Greenery, and lots of it, is really hot right now, and it’s not just limited to the table. Hanging greenery, especially in a location like Cabo where for most of our venues, literally the sky is the limit, this adds an amazing view from the tables.

4. The flowers should, of course, scream glamour, but let’s not forget about the vase! Clear vases, emphasizing the beauty of the stems, with rocks (or shells, or jewels, or seaglass…the list goes on) are clean and simply gorgeous.

Meet Perla…She’s creating your arrangement!

After 8 years at Cabo Flowers and Cakes, we can’t imagine how we’d get along without Perla. She is one of our top floral designers, having risen through the ranks at Cabo Flowers and Cakes over the years. She’s an orchid lover, and a wedding lover! In fact, one of her favorite parts of her job is going to the actual weddings and helping to set up all the florals. She’s a hard worker (it’s gets hot and sweaty, pulling together all the floral arrangements for a beach wedding in Cabo!) but she never complains! She can wield a staple gun along with the best of them, and can fix a troublesome flower with tools from her every-handy toolbox!

Perla’s favorite wedding locations are Cabo del Sol golf clubhouse and the Sunset Da Mona Lisa restaurant, and her favorite part of her job is producing the floral arrangements for a wedding. She says she loves it when she delivers the wedding flowers, and everyone smiles!

Perla recently worked with a local wedding planner, Katie Thompson of Dazzle ‘Em Event Design, putting together elaborate floral decor for a beachfront wedding. “I love Perla! I love the way she takes what she does so seriously!” said Katie. “Every wedding is very important to her. For every flower order, she checks, re-checks and then checks again to make sure everything is literally perfect!”

On a personal note, Perla is also an avid soccer player. In fact, practicing her English, she sang, “I love, love soccer!” as she was being interviewed! She also loves learning English and has become much more outgoing in her second language.

Why should a client use Cabo Flowers and Cakes? “Porque somos los mejores,” Perla says. (Translation: Because they are the best!)

Let’s take a minute and celebrate the most popular plant to now be a part of the Cabo wedding scene! It’s our little green friend…the succulent! It’s popping up everywhere… from rustic farm weddings to beachfront seaside weddings like we have here in our beautiful destination wedding location, Cabo San Lucas. And we at Cabo Flowers & Cakes couldn’t be happier!!!

Succulents grow as an individual bloom and are the perfect shade of a mellow, mild green. They add color and texture to any floral arrangement without stealing the glory from other beautiful blooms. They are hardy and long-lasting, and add a bit of fun too!

We love to add succulents to bouquets (bridal and bridesmaid), table centerpieces, as boutonnieres (not usually the whole bloom but just a snippet of one), and as mini arrangements perfect for a cocktail table or in a restroom.

Really, the only limit to what you can use a succulent for is your imagination or your budget.

THE CARE & HANDLING OF YOUR FLOWERS

When planning a wedding in Cabo San Lucas, flowers should always be a part of your decor. At Cabo Flowers and Cakes, we of course understand this and know that part of our responsibility when we provide the flowers for your Cabo wedding (whether it’s at a resort, private villa or even on the beach) is to make sure the flowers are delivered in pristine condition!

We wanted to take a moment to share with you how we ensure a smooth delivery of your personal flowers (that’s your bridal bouquet, bridesmaid bouquets, boutonnieres, etc.).

The main concern for us is that your flowers stay cool in our heat. We know and love Cabo, but let’s face it, it can get very warm here. (It’s one of the reasons we all love it.) Good for us, not so good for our flowers. 2012-07-17 19.00.22

We also know that you will need your personal flowers for your pre-ceremony photography. So we want to make sure that your flowers are delivered in time for that, but not too much time before your ceremony.

We will work with you (and/or your wedding planner) to determine your flower delivery timeline, but we usually plan on delivering your personal flowers directly to you two hours before your ceremony start time.

We keep your flowers refrigerated for as long as necessary before transport. Then, once they are delivered directly to you, please keep your flowers in a cool place (an air-conditioned room is fine) and in a vase with a tiny bit of water if possible. (Make sure the bouquets do not drip on your dress when you take them out of the vase for photos. Just a dab with a paper towel or napkin will work.)

If you care for your personal flowers early on in the day, they will last beautifully throughout your whole celebration.

GETTING CREATIVE WITH YOUR CHUPPAH

There is nothing more perfect and beautiful for a Cabo beach wedding than a chuppah at the center of your outdoor ceremony. They are so popular here for a reason…because they look amazing in pictures and they are extremely romantic. (Plus, they are easy to set up in the sand, in grass or on a platform, and they form a perfect backdrop to the crashing waves of Cabo.)

A simple bamboo chuppah structure can be transformed based on the fabrics and flowers that you choose (and many other items that work well to decorate a chuppah too, like shells, starfish, feathers, and more.) You are truly only limited by your imagination (and your weddings color scheme!)

WHAT ORCHIDS CAN YOU GET FOR YOUR CABO WEDDING?

Cabo has a million reasons why it is one of the most popular wedding destinations in the world! We have the amazing temperatures, the crystal clear blue water, the Arch, the Mexican hospitality…and so much more! We at Cabo Flowers and Cakes also know that our flower decor and design can rival the top floral design companies in the good ole US of A. With that being said, however, it is always important for a bride to know exactly what she can expect when she comes to Cabo to get married…in terms of her flower choices and their availability. One thing brides may not realize is that on the Baja peninsula, no cut flowers are grown. OK, a few mini cala-lilies at special times of the year, but 99% of the time, we are required to import our flowers from the Mexican mainland and there are limits to the types of flowers that we can get at certain times of the year.

We at Cabo Flowers and Cakes love orchids as much as any bride with some time on her hands and a keyboard to Google “orchids.” We love the Eria Orchid and the Lycaste Orchid, and all the bearded orchids too! However, and we say this with a sad face, these are not available to us here in Baja. The orchids that are available to us, though, are fabulous and fancy and will make a splash at your Cabo wedding. So, which orchids can you get for your wedding here in Baja?
