Real Wedding: Rancho Pescadero – Crista & Patrice

Crista.and.Patrice.Wedding_0014-3

Meet Crista & Patrice and their lovely families (and friends). We are proud to be one of the exclusive floral providers at the amazing Rancho Pescadero, in El Pescadero, about an hour north of Cabo. We design the florals for almost all of their events! An eco-friendly boutique resort with a “namaste” vibe, the environment at Rancho (as the locals call it) is intimate and gorgeous!

We created Crista’s bouquet to include colors that are familiar at Rancho…corals, and oranges, with subdued greens as well.  Crista loves big mums and those featured prominently (and beautifully) in her bouquets!Crista.and.Patrice.Wedding_0045 Crista.and.Patrice.Wedding_0050

Rancho Pescadero has just recently started offering a smaller wedding package (up to 14 guests) and so, with just 12 guests,  Crista had a bridal bouquet and one bridesmaid bouquet.  Both were lovely! And the smaller wedding was such a memorable experience for all involved!

With one long table for all of her guests, we created a mix of florals in bud vases, cylinder candles and mercury gold votives, that glowed all night long!

These Trends are the Secret Ingredient to Wedding Fabulousness!

With the first month of 2016 coming to a close (can you believe how quickly January has flown by!), we wanted to highlight a few more wedding trends that we think are adorable and truly fabulous and should be brought here to Cabo immediately!

  1. Especially with a destination wedding like this one in Cabo, it can be difficult to include all of our besties, especially our furry ones! So what better way to include them, then to give their photos a place of honor at the reception. elegant-pink-flower-table-garland-runners-for-wedding-centerpiece-ideas
  2. Instead of linen table runner, try a floral table runner on a simple white linen. Lined with candles, this adds the drama of hundreds of flowers, still leaving room for your guests to be able to chat across and down the long table.

4. The flowers should, of course, scream glamour, but let’s not forget about the vase! Clear vases, emphasizing the beauty of the stems, with rocks (or shells, or jewels, or seaglass…the list goes on) are clean and simply gorgeous.

How to Create the Rustic Look… on a Cabo Beach

FullSizeRender 2

As the Cabo floral experts, it’s easy to tap into trends.  We often hear the same words or descriptions from many different clients.  That’s how we know what’s truly popular with our brides and grooms.  The one word we keep hearing right now?  RUSTIC.

And we love rustic!  Now, of course, creating a rustic event on a beach in Mexico is a little bit different than having a rustic event in a barn, or on a farm, or in a meadow, or at a vineyard…wedding options that you may have in the U.S.

For us, most of our rustic weddings happen on a Cabo beach!  And we love that!  (Of course, we do create floral designs for weddings at Flora Farms, too, in neighboring San Jose del Cabo, which is a working farm.  But most of our weddings are on or adjacent to the beach.)

Keeping your floral decor rustic is all about keeping your Cabo wedding look simple and natural with clean lines, while at the same time keeping it elegant.

So how do you do that?

  1. Incorporate a lot of white flowers into your floral design.  Baby’s breath is popular again as well in rustic weddings too.  (Line your ceremony aisle with bunches of it, for a beautiful and rustic look.)
  2. Use natural wood for many of your floral decor options.  We recommend drift wood or curly willow.  Create a chuppah with this natural wood, or let us design for you a table centerpiece made with some of our own Cabo beach driftwood with a candles incorporated into the wood.
  3. Use succulents and more wild flowers, than traditional flowers.
  4. Vintage metals look amazing with all of the above options.  Set these directly on the beach to line your aisle way and include them in your table design as well.

KEEPING YOUR EVENT DECOR FRUITY

We, at Cabo Flowers & Cakes, know a little trick to keep your event decor fabulous – and affordable – with a touch of whimsy!  Add a bit of fruit to your decor.  Yes….fruit!  Lemons and limes are our favorites, but really you can add almost any type of fruit.  Keep it whole or slice it…just make sure to showcase the true beauty and color of the fruit. And make sure it’s a match, color-wise, for your event’s theme and decor.

These sliced lemons lining the tall cylinder vases were a perfect fit for this luncheon’s bright, airy, and natural look.  Adding the baby’s breath, Mason jars, and wrapping everything in raffia added the final finishing touches.

For this Cabo wedding’s natural feel, curly willow and tall cylinders of whole limes, lining the aisle walkway, were added to the ceremony decor.  What a perfect way to mix the colors of brown, green and white!  Very creative, very catchy!

WHAT ORCHIDS CAN YOU GET FOR YOUR CABO WEDDING?

2014-04-05 13.17.22Cabo has a million reasons why it is one of the most popular wedding destinations in the world!  We have the amazing temperatures, the crystal clear blue water, the Arch, the Mexican hospitality…and so much more!  We at Cabo Flowers and Cakes also know that our flower decor and design can rival the top floral design companies in the good ole US of A.  With that being said, however, it is always important for a bride to know exactly what she can expect when she comes to Cabo to get married…in terms of her flower choices and their availability.  One thing brides may not realize is that on the Baja peninsula, no cut flowers are grown.  OK, a few mini cala-lilies at special times of the year, but 99% of the time, we are required to import our flowers from the Mexican mainland and there are limits to the types of flowers that we can get at certain times of the year.

We at Cabo Flowers and Cakes love orchids as much as any bride with some time on her hands and a keyboard to Google “orchids.”  We love the Eria Orchid and the Lycaste Orchid, and all the bearded orchids too! However, and we say this with a sad face, these are not available to us here in Baja.  The orchids that are available to us, though, are fabulous and fancy and will make a splash at your Cabo wedding.  So, which orchids can you get for your wedding here in Baja?

Cymbidium Orchids in yellow, green, white, light pink, and darker pink

Dendrobium Orchids in white, green, and fuchsia

Oncidium Orchids in yellow

Phalaenopsis Orchids in white & fuchsia

Rest assured that with our creative designs and floral know-how you’ll never miss the orchids we can’t get and you’ll be thrilled with the orchids that we can!   Another important note in regard to our orchids: we can also paint or tint with special floral paints to modify and enhance the colors. Just let us know what you need – we are here to create what you want.
