Classic & Easygoing All-White Wedding

Alex & Ryan were not fussy about their wedding florals, but they definitely knew what they wanted for their Rancho Pescadero wedding! Simple & white! Nothing too big, but romantic & lovely! We hit the mark perfectly, as you can see in all of the following photos!

Real Wedding: Ellie & Tyler – Cabo Del Sol Golf Clubhouse

Our beautiful bride, Ellie, knew exactly what she wanted her bouquet to look like…natural, leafy, green & white only, and very fresh and romantic! We know we fulfilled her every wish & presented her with her perfect bridal bouquet!

One of our favorite parts of a Cabo wedding is when, working with a wedding planner,  we get to present the personal flowers to the bride and groom.
Getting ready to proceed down to the ceremony….the florals all look perfect!

The palm arch and pineapple & Bird of Paradise leaf aisle decor look adorable…and we used the pineapples as cocktail table decor after the ceremony! Papel picado table signs…a great way to bring a little bit of Mexico into your Cabo destination wedding decor!

A eucalyptus leaf floral runner was stunning on the wooden farm tables!

Real Wedding: Meredith & PJ’s Baja Destination Wedding

Our last Real Wedding post for our Cabo Flowers & Cakes blog for the 2016 year is one of our favorites! Our clients, Meredith & PJ, had such a memorable wedding at Rancho Pescaderoand so much fun! They were all smiles and their playful spirits showed through in their flowers choices as well!

291016MeredithPJ0049

Meredith’s head wreath (a perfect fit with her loose braid) and floral bouquet were bright, colorful, whimsical and natural. She didn’t want anything sculpted or too big; she wanted flowers that fit with the stunning environment at their amazing wedding location, Rancho Pescadero.

291016MeredithPJ0069

Meredith & PJ’s flower girl (with petals in her purse…so cute!) modeled another boho-type head wreath.  We create our head wreaths with a special back enclosure so that each wreath fits each individual head perfectly! No bobby pins needed!

291016MeredithPJ0071

We love the way Meredith is holding her bouquet…she wanted a casual look with her bouquet as she walked down the aisle. Nothing too rehearsed looking…just a easy stroll to her beloved.

The white paper Mexican flags hanging here are called “Papel Picado” here in Mexico. They are individually cut with beautiful and intricate designs, and are a popular addition to Mexican events. We carry them (in both plastic – more durable – and the traditional paper) and hang them as well. Make this a must-have for your Mexican wedding!291016MeredithPJ0278

Cake cutting time! After some heavy dancing (and a quick dip in the pool mid-reception), Meredith & PJ cut their simple 3-tier cake. Our name says it all: We are Cabo Flowers & Cakes, and cakes are our specialty as well! This one was, as one of the guests commented, “one of the best tasting wedding cakes ever!”

Real Weddings: Orange Floral Fun

WED #1 Farver_0977

For your Cabo wedding, we highly recommend orange! Remember your elementary school days, and when you learned about the color wheel? Well, orange and blue are complementary colors (translation: they go really well together!) and we have lots of blue here in Cabo San Lucas.  Blue sky and blue ocean…and lots of it!

Real Wedding: Keely & Jeff

What a pleasure it was to work with Keely & Jeff, and their wedding planner, Katie Thompson, of Dazzle ‘Em Event Design,  on their wedding florals!

FullSizeRenderWe first met the cute couple when they came in January of this year for a site tour and floral meeting . At this meeting, we had a great time playing with the flowers, with Keely (working together with our floral designers) coming up with the perfect way to arrange a lot of precious small vases on a rectangular wooden farm table.

The end result of that meeting? The amazing floral decor you’ll see below.

Ceremony location: Cabo del Sol Golf Clubhouse Beach. We created a simple arch, framing the crashing waves at this amazing beach venue.

How White Bridal Bouquets Are Bringing Sexy Back

2013-09-01 14.51.40

The classic white bridal bouquet is our #1 requested bouquet at Cabo Flowers and Cakes! And we fully support this fabulous bouquet!  But just as Justin Timberlake sang (a long time ago), we believe in bringing sexy back and so we feel like jazzing up the classic white bouquet…just a bit! (Don’t worry….nothing too drastic!)

bridal bouquetTo enhance the classic white bridal bouquet, it’s all about what are the little additions (extra unique or special flowers or greenery) that make the bouquet stand up and dazzle. This bouquet (above) includes a touch of Belles of Ireland. (Photo credit: Amy Bennett)
2014-02-01 13.36.19

How about adding white anemones, succulents, and green hydrangea & eucalyptus? This used to be a white bouquet until we transformed to it into a super-cool, super-gorgeous, extra special bridal bouquet with a white base!  Spectacular!
2013-05-18 13.21.16

White Mums and green hydrangeas add beautiful color and texture to what could’ve been a traditional white bouquet.

2013-01-04 11.34.24

There are lots of ways to play this game! 2013-02-16 13.28.33

And don’t forget how different textures of white (and different styles of white flowers) help up the glamour element as well.

Looking for a traditional white bouquet for your Cabo wedding, but want to make it YOURS? Look no further than Cabo Flowers and Cakes floral designers…we’re bringing sexy back to the traditional white bouquet!

Bridal Bouquet Trends In 2016 That Will Impress Your Friends

January is halfway over…and we have been having fun researching trends for the new year! As the Cabo floral expert, we, of course, are always so excited by bridal bouquets! So let’s delve in…here are some gorgeous looks, great unique additions to bouquets, and fun different ways to use some of our traditionally favorite flowers!

Here’s what we came up for you…trends that we know will impress your friends! (As if a wedding in Cabo isn’t enough to impress!)

BABY’S BREATH: Colored or white, this flower used to get a bad rap. No longer! Use it alone to create a wispy wildflower look.

GREENERY GALORE: Greenery is the master of this bouquet.  A fresh look!

ADD CURLY WILLOW & AN ALTERNATIVE GREENERY: How about lamb’s ear for the greenery in this bouquet? We love this trend! Add some curly willow to your bouquet, for the beautiful rustic and romantic look!

Cabbage leaves

COLOR AND RIBBONS: Huge & colorful…with a ribbon drape.  Couldn’t be cuter…can’t wait to create a bunch of these bouquets at Cabo Flowers and Cakes this year! Don’t go small here!

REAL LIFE WEDDING: Mallory & Evan

MalloryEvan43

Welcome to Mallory & Evan’s special day! It’s bright, beautiful and full of fun! We at Cabo Flowers & Cakes loved creating the flowers and floral decor for this exuberant couple for their dream destination wedding in Cabo! Once again, we also loved working with these amazing vendors here in Cabo: Beth Dalton, owner of For You, I Do Weddings and amazing photographer, Daniel Jireh.  (Thanks for sharing the photos, Daniel!)

Mallory & Evan’s chuppah (shown above) was so creative and showcased their happy personalities perfectly! Those balls are officially called “pomanders” and we were so pleased with this whimsical wedding look!

MalloryEvan16

We also had a blast creating this beautiful bouquet!  Mallory wanted color and succulents, and we were happy to oblige!

MalloryEvan21

Her bridesmaid bouquets were similar (just a bit smaller) and added even more pops of color throughout the wedding!

MalloryEvan24

One of our favorite parts of Mallory & Evan’s floral design were these luscious hair flowers!  What true beauty…just what every bride wants for her wedding day!

Congratulations, Mallory & Evan!  Thanks for making Cabo Flowers & Cakes such a large part of your special day!

Meet Perla…She’s creating your arrangement!

IMG_5808

After 8 years at Cabo Flowers and Cakes, we can’t imagine how we’d get along without Perla.  She is one of our top floral designers, having risen through the ranks at Cabo Flowers and Cakes over the years.  She’s an orchid lover, and a wedding lover! In fact, one of her favorite parts of her job is going to the actual weddings and helping to set up all the florals.  She’s a hard worker (it’s gets hot and sweaty, pulling together all the floral arrangements for a beach wedding in Cabo!) but she never complains!  She can wield a staple gun along with the best of them, and can fix a troublesome flower with tools from her every-handy toolbox!

Perla’s favorite wedding locations are Cabo del Sol golf clubhouse and the Sunset Da Mona Lisa restaurant, and her favorite part of her job is producing the floral arrangements for a wedding.  She says she loves it when she delivers the wedding flowers, and everyone smiles!

Perla  recently worked with a local wedding planner, Katie Thompson of Dazzle ‘Em Event Design, putting together elaborate floral decor for a beachfront wedding.  “I love Perla!  I love the way she takes what she does so seriously!” said Katie.   “Every wedding is very important to her.  For every flower order, she checks, re-checks and then checks again to make sure everything is literally perfect!”

On a personal note, Perla is also an avid soccer player.  In fact, practicing her English, she sang, “I love, love soccer!” as she was being interviewed! She also loves learning English and has become much more outgoing in her second language.

Why should a client use Cabo Flowers and Cakes? “Porque somos los mejores,” Perla says.  (Translation: Because they are the best!)
